Here to Stay: Architecture After Arrival opened March 30, 2026 at the Chicago Architecture Center’s Usher Lambe Gallery, presenting the work of the inaugural Princeton | CAC Fellows.

The Princeton | Chicago Architecture Center Fellowship supports early-career architects in developing independent, public-facing work at the start of their professional practice. The inaugural brief, Re: Settlement, asked architects to propose civic architecture that treats immigrant welcome as permanent infrastructure rather than emergency response.

T.K. Justin Ng proposed River Commons, a civic landmark along the Chicago waterfront. Yotam Oron designed This is not a Shelter, reimagining how Chicago houses its newest residents through collective land ownership. Leslie Ponce-Diaz designed an educational and ecological sanctuary for migrant youth, rooted in her own experience as the child of Mexican immigrants.

A new essay by Dasha Kuletskaya, a recipient of the Princeton | Places Urban Imagination Prize, has been published in Places Journal “Solidarities, After Socialism,” by architect and urban scholar Dasha Kuletskaya, tells the story of the struggle for control of public space — and for democracy — in post-Soviet Belarus. Recalling the enormous crowds that protested in the streets of Minsk against the regime of Alexander Lukashenko, Kuletskaya explores the transformative power of “small, daily acts of solidarity, defined in opposition to the state.” Kuletskaya’s research is published through a collaboration between Places Journal and the Princeton Urban Imagination Center at Princeton University’s School of Architecture. Established in 2020, the Princeton | Places Urban Imagination Prize aims to encourage ambitious long-form public scholarship broadly focused on cities and urban issues. Born in Minsk, Dasha Kuletskaya is an architect and researcher focusing on the interconnection of architecture and economy in the context of contemporary capitalism.
